The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack Releases October 1, 2013

 

For the first time ever on Blu-ray and for a limited time this Fall Walt Disney Studios to release The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition to a new generation. Finally releasing from the Disney vault, “The Little Mermaid” makes it eagerly awaited debut on Diamond Edition Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray, Digital Copy and HD and SD Digital formats October 1, 2013. Creating the ultimate at-home viewing experience, Disney’s Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) contains digitally restored picture and sound, a digital copy of the film, and a variety of never-before-seen bonus features, including the music video for Grammy®-nominated superstar Carly Rae Jepsen’s recording of the film’s beloved song, “Part of Your World.”

One of the most celebrated animated musical films of all time and two-time Academy Award®-winner (Best Original Score and Best Original Song “Under the Sea,” 1989), “The Little Mermaid” tells the magical tale of the mermaid princess Ariel and her lovable underwater friends, Sebastian and Flounder. Now, viewers can experience Ariel’s adventures like never before with sparkling high definition picture and sound, then explore the making of this modern family classic with all-new bonus treasures.

Disney is also releasing a Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack that allows families to experience Ariel’s underwater adventures like never before in wondrously immersive 3-D. This Combo Pack includes the Blu-ray 3D, a Blu-ray, a DVD, a Digital Copy, plus a 10 Music Track Download.

Under the Scene - The Art of Live-Action Reference – Directors Ron Clements and John Musker reminisce about how they revived the art of live-action reference for animation with “The Little Mermaid.” You will view uncanny footage of these sessions that match directly to some of the most iconic scenes in the movie.

Part of Her World: Jodi Benson’s Voyage to New Fantasyland - “The Little Mermaid” has been an important part of Jodi Benson’s world for the past 25 years. Bringing Ariel to life has brought her closer to experiencing an enchanted life. Now, as a mother, she wants to bring this magic to her children and make it part of their world and there is no better place to do so than at New Fantasyland at Walt Disney World.

Howard’s Lecture – Howard Ashman was not only the lyricist and Executive Producer of movies like “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and The Beast.” He also influenced the whole renaissance of Disney Animation. Join him as he gives a lunch-time lecture around the time he was new to the studio where he walks the animators through the songs of the film and his take on music and songs for the stage and screen. Much of this archival video has never been seen before…until now.

Synopsis:

Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson), is a free-spirited mermaid, who is off on the adventure of a lifetime with her best friend, the adorable Flounder (voiced by Jason Marin), and the reggae-singing Caribbean crab Sebastian (voiced by Samuel E. Wright) at her side. But it will take all of her courage and determination to make her dreams come true—and save her father’s (voiced by Kenneth Mars)beloved kingdom from the sneaky sea witch Ursula (voiced by Pat Carroll).

  2. Yes I have seen this tons, and I would keep it for me. I have only sons (5 of them) and I don’t think they would be interested in this, but maybe my littlest one would watch with me. if not, i would watch alone :)

  7. No I have not personally seen it, but my youngest granddaughter talks about Ariel all the time and the movie, I think she thinks she is a mermaid, especially when in the swimming pool,

  8. i use to watch this on VHS with my grandma, it was amazing and i loved it. I can’t wait to share this with my son, I hope its as magoical for him as it was for me.

  11. I saw and loved The Little Mermaid in it’s original format. If I win, I will definitely be sharing this with my son who loves all things Disney but has never seen this movie.

  12. I LOVE, LOVE this movie! I own it on VHS and I absolutely LOVE it! I probably would gift it to my sister for her bday though. This is her very FAVORITE Disney film and she has a Blu-Ray player. Plus, she doesn’t own it… weird, I know.
