Does the thought of losing or damaging your cell phone cause intense emotional fear to come to your mind. Asurion estimates that at least 1 out of every 4 people you know will either damage, loose or have their phone stolen this year. Can you afford to pay full retail price to replace your cell phone if something should happen to it. To be exact that is exactly what happens and will happen to at least 60,000,0000 people in North America this year alone. If you think it won’t happen to you or someone you know, think again.

Today, more than any time in the past, we are connected with our cell phones. For some of us, cell phones have replaced land lines. Recent polls indicate that 30% of all people surveyed thought it was more important to return home for their cell phone than their wallet or purse. Our cell phones are more than just phones today. Some contain sensitive, personal information. Today’s cell phones are cameras capable of taking pictures better than many cameras on the market. Cell phones are entertainment with music capability and apps galore. Cell phones today are nearly a necessity for some people.

Our family has felt this loss and my husband was a wreck for days after losing his phone. Read what he had to say about losing his phone below.

I remember a few years ago when I lost my phone. I remember wracking my brain and asking myself where it could be. Where was I last? Where do I last remember having it in my hands? What was I wearing? What coat did I have on? Could it have fallen out of my pocket? Could someone have taken it? Could the furniture have eaten it? I went through every coat in the closet, checked every pair of pants, looked in and under every living room chair. So many thoughts went through my head, some silly as I think of them now, some not. But, at the time, I was just trying to come up with something…anything. I was just trying to come up with some place new to check. I was almost sickened from losing my cell phone.

I wasn’t so much worried about someone using my phone to run up a high cell phone bill. My smart phone had a security code on it, one with enough digits that would prevent someone from easily getting in to it I thought. What I cared more about was everything that was on my phone. Pictures of my son on vacation that I hadn’t gotten to download yet. Phone numbers of family and friends. Years ago my parents had their little telephone books with phone numbers and addresses of family and friends, I had my phone. Add to the inconvenience of having to get all of the numbers and addresses again, the cost of replacing my phone, and the lost memories, and you can certainly understand why I tore my house, clothing and cars apart for days trying to locate my phone. There were things on my phone that I could not possibly ever replace.

It’s a few years later and now I read about Asurion. With Asurion’s downloadable application, this would have never happened. Asurion’s app can remotely locate your phone, lock it so nobody else can use it, or even wipe out all information stored on it. What peace of mind that is for me! If you only use your phone to make an emergency calls, then perhaps this isn’t for you. However with the high amount of people carrying around smart phones these days, an application from Asurion is almost as important as your phone itself.

If I had the Asurion’s application when I lost my smart phone I would have saved myself hours of searching, hours or wracking my brain, hours of toiling over where my phone could be, hours of wondering how I going to replace everything that was on it, including the cost of a new phone.

Why put yourself in this situation. If you believe you already have phone insurance that was provided when you purchased your phone. Thank again and read the small print. I could be your insurance only protects you against manufacturer defects and faulty batteries and not again loss, theft or your clumsiness. And that $200 Smart Phone you purchase with contract will now cost you $599 to replace in the middle of a contract.

Asurion is available through most wireless companies, for peace of mind now and later.

  1. I put my cell phone on the hood of the car while I looked for my keys. Forgot it and drove off with it. It fell off and I ran over it. Sigh…

  5. I put my phone down in the trunk while unloading grocery bags. I had my hands full and just grabbed the hatch and slammed it shut…right on my phone. UGH, cracked the screen into pieces.

  6. I dropped my phone in the lake once and couldn’t find it because it was so stirred up. We found it a week later and dried it out in rice. It worked fine after that-we couldn’t believe it!

  7. I dropped my iphone and cracked the screen. I did not have insurance on the phone, so I just bought another iphone.

  8. My phone mishap actually involves my iPhone’s case(s) I have purchased 4 Incase cases so far and have broken each one of them. I typically am doing something with my 2 yr old and then I drop my phone from fumbling around with him, the diaper bag and of course my purse. My 4th case is still on my phone as I cannot afford to buy another one. They cost 30.00 and I’ve bought 4 in the last year (wowzers). Thankfully though these cases have saved my phone from certain death and me from having to pay 600.00 I am currently not eligible to buy a new phone so I would have to pay the out of contract price to replace it. I become eligible in March for a new phone.

  9. Well… here’s a gross one for you ;) While my son was getting overly excited about being able to “flush” the big potty after I was in the process of emptying his big boy potty “#2″ into our toilet, he knocked my NEW Windows Phone into the toilet. It was literally worth #Sh!t, after that! *sigh* It’s funny now that I look back at it… but seriously gross.
